Perth Biodesign Directors Dr Matt Oldakowski and Intan Oldakowska have created these new offerings based on the gap that they’ve identified in the specialised healthcare innovation and commercialisation training within the Perth ecosystem. They said that the grant has come at a particularly good time for WA health innovation, with Health Minister Roger Cook recently declaring Perth as one of Australia’s top life sciences hubs.
“We are very excited about being able to reach more aspiring innovators and work more closely with industry to enable change and innovation that can benefit patients with the help of this X-TEND grant and our partners.”
This program is made possible with the support of UWA, ECU, Curtin University, Murdoch University, Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, Perron Institute and the Telethon Kids Institute.
The Perth Biodesign team are very excited to announce that we have received funding under a successful X-TEND WA grant, part of the State Government’s $16.7 million New Industries Fund, to continue and expand our offering of medtech innovation programs.
Healthcare innovation in Western Australia has received a boost under a new initiative that will help Australia’s brightest minds in medicine, business, research and engineering to develop into medtech entrepreneurs and early stage start-ups. The initiative is led by the University of Western Australia, and will support 3 programs from Perth Biodesign in 2020.
